“Incisive, thrilling singing, wonderful to hear” Andrew Dickson, Guardian arts writer
Cantemus Chamber Choir, based in Cardiff, is fast establishing a reputation as one of the country’s finest choirs. With an experienced membership of around thirty voices, our conductor is Huw Williams, Director of Music at the Chapel Royal, St James’ Palace. Our President is the internationally-renowned countertenor, James Bowman. We sing a wide range of music from the Renaissance to the present day and we’re particularly noted for our performances of Baroque music. We’ve featured on the BBC ‘One Show’ and BBC Radio 3’s ‘In Tune’, and have performed Handel’s Messiah at Buckingham Palace, where we received a standing ovation. We appear frequently at classical music festivals and recently gave the world premiere of a major new work by Giles Swayne at the St David’s Cathedral Festival.
Working regularly with musicians and soloists of national and international repute, we maintain a busy concert diary and have undertaken numerous successful tours. Our latest CD, Nativity, a selection of Christmas music, will be available shortly on the Regent record label.
It's our final rehearsal tonight for our concert of ALL Bach's wonderful Motets this Saturday, and we can't wait! It's sounding fantastic. We're really looking forward to performing with the fabulous Claudine Cassidy (cello, pictured) and John Cheer (continuo). Tickets are still available (£16) from the RWCMD box office on 02920 391391. 7.30pm start. Do come along! ... See MoreSee Less
